Bustleton Memorial Post 810 Auxiliary

This year the American Legion Auxiliary celebrates 90 years of 'Service—Not Self,' for veterans, for God and for the country. As the wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and granddaughters of veterans, we work closely with our American Legion Commander, Joe Schuman, and Sons of the American Legion Commander, Andy Newman, to continue our many accomplishments.

As members of the Auxiliary, Post 810 cares for disabled veterans with warmth and understanding. We volunteer at Delaware Valley Veteran's Home, on Southampton Road off Roosevelt Blvd., celebrate the birthdays of all our Armed Forces and serve refreshments to the many dedicated veterans. Our picnics on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day create friendships between the many men and woman who enjoy the opportunity for conversation. Working closely with agencies assisting veterans, Post 810 makes contributions to all sixteen VA hospitals and veteran homes. We donate to the Philadelphia Comfort House by collecting items from cell phones to coupons—which help provide lodging and food for veterans receiving outpatient care.

Our Children and Youth program supports American families by offering basic necessities, while our scholarships help bring material relief. The Americanism Essay contest awards three savings bonds of $200, $100 and $50.

This year, we sponsored a 'Thank You' bear to be placed in Hero Packs for children in military families. The packs are given to the children of men and women serving overseas. The Auxiliary works hard to keep patriotism a part of the education of every child—a patriotism that teaches a love of America through the history of its people.

Post 810 Auxiliary meets every first Thursday of the month (except July and August). We keep smiles on everyone's face by hosting exciting events throughout the year. In the past, we have held Halloween parties and Veteran's Day Celebrations. We host a very successful pig roast and car show in September.

Auxiliary members serve a delicious breakfast a variety of months out of the year. For dates, times, and prices check out the small calendar logoUpcoming Events Calendar page.

Ladies Auxiliary President,

Betty Lennen
